"Lage Raho Munna Bhai" is a 2006 Indian comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani. It is the second installment in the "Munna Bhai" film series, following the successful "Munna Bhai M.B.B.S."
The movie revolves around the character of Munna Bhai, played by Sanjay Dutt, who is a kind-hearted but misguided underworld don in Mumbai. In this sequel, Munna Bhai undergoes a transformation as he starts to follow the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
The story begins with Munna Bhai's encounter with a radio jockey named Jhanvi, played by Vidya Balan, whom he falls in love with. To impress Jhanvi, Munna Bhai pretends to be a history professor and starts hosting a radio show where he discusses the principles of Mahatma Gandhi. Munna Bhai's friend, Circuit, played by Arshad Warsi, assists him in this charade.
As Munna Bhai spreads Gandhi's philosophy of truth and nonviolence through his radio program, it begins to have a profound impact on the lives of people in Mumbai. Inspired by Munna Bhai's teachings, a man named Lucky Singh undergoes a change of heart and decides to reunite with his estranged daughter, Simran.
However, trouble arises when Munna Bhai discovers that Jhanvi is an avid follower of Gandhi and has been to Gandhi Ashram in Porbandar. Munna Bhai's lies are exposed, and Jhanvi is heartbroken. Feeling guilty, Munna Bhai decides to visit the Ashram and genuinely learn about Gandhi's principles.
At the Ashram, Munna Bhai encounters the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi, played by Dilip Prabhavalkar, who only he can see and hear. The spirit of Gandhi becomes Munna Bhai's mentor, guiding him on the path of truth and teaching him the essence of Gandhian values.
Armed with the teachings of Gandhi, Munna Bhai sets out to rectify his mistakes and win back Jhanvi's trust. Meanwhile, a corrupt builder named Lucky Singh plans to demolish the slums where Munna Bhai and his friends reside. Munna Bhai, with the help of his gang and the spirit of Gandhi, devises a plan to confront Lucky Singh and fight for the rights of the slum dwellers.
In a series of comedic and dramatic sequences, Munna Bhai, with his unique approach inspired by Gandhi, manages to expose Lucky Singh's corruption and ensure justice for the slum residents. Along the way, he also wins back Jhanvi's love and admiration.
"Lage Raho Munna Bhai" is a heartwarming film that combines comedy, drama, and social commentary. It highlights the transformative power of Gandhian principles and encourages the audience to embrace truth, compassion, and nonviolence in their lives.
